The Recycling and Waste Reduction District of Porter County will host its 16th annual Earth Day celebration from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Porter County Expo Center. The event is free to the public and will feature an array of vendors, wildlife shows, a magician performance, interactive children's games, guest speakers, birdhouse building, live music, food, giveaways and an estimated 2,000 attendees.

Earthtones is a student run environmental organization at Valparaiso University that is hosting our annual environmental conference. We would like to invite Valparaiso community members to join us at our environmental conference on April 27 from 10 AM - 2 PM in the Harre Union ballrooms at Valparaiso University. Both beginners and skaters with some experience are invited to join us for our first ever skateboarding lessons! Beginners ages 8 to 13 will become comfortable skating and learn basic skills. Intermediate skaters will master basics like positioning, transitions, tricks and more! Register by April 17.

A community tradition for over four decades, this event has over 1,000 participants annually, running and walking through our tree-lined city streets.  In teams or as individuals, you can choose to run the 5 miles or shorten it up with a 5K run or walk.  

This long-standing community tradition will return in 2022!

Kids can join in the Popcorn Festival fun with this unique kid-friendly race in Downtown Valparaiso.  Kids run this 100- 300 yard event; distance varies by age group.  Everyone receives a t-shirt and participation ribbon.

Art Prize celebrates their 15th Anniversary in 2024!  This amazing art festival is set in the heart of Downtown Grand Rapids and features artists from all over the world.  Guests will enjoy a hearty sit-down lunch at Hopcat combined with walking and bus tours of various art installations throughout the city.

Registration begins at 6:30am on the day of the event.  Weigh-in at noon at the clubhouse, all live fish.
