Veterans Day: Honoring Veterans for 130 Years

Maestro Troy Webdell and South Shore Orchestra are back for a special presentation honoring our national veterans and celebrating Memorial Opera House's 130 anniversary!
This Veterans Day, Memorial Opera House celebrates the service of our veterans on its 130th birthday!
Built in 1893, Memorial Opera House was dedicated on Veterans Day to the soldiers lost in the Civil War and we are proud to say it is still going strong! Come help us blow out the candles as we bring in our 130th year of quality performances with a special dedication by South Shore Orchestra, and featuring the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Please join us as we salute the service of our veterans and celebrate our beautiful building with a concert performance of your favorite patriotic songs, readings, and memories. We know how proud our veterans are of their service to our Nation and we are equally proud to give back to our veterans in any way we can. We are happy to offer attendance to this event free to all Veterans as a humble token of our esteem.
The US Department of Veteran’s Affairs announced an updated version of its 1959 mission statement:
“To fulfill President Lincoln’s promise to care for those who have served in our nation’s military and for their families, caregivers, and survivors.”
While we thank and honor veterans with this event, we are spotlighting those families, caregivers and survivors this Veterans Day. A portion of ticket sales will be donated to America’s Gold Star Families organization in Peoria, Illinois. America’s Gold Star Families honors our fallen heroes who served in the United States Armed Forces and cares for their survivors through programs and services at no cost to the survivors.
